- Make sure that the photo(s) that you want to post is(are) in JPG format and resized to about 1200 pixels in width, 300 k file size.
- Access WordPress by logging in with your account.
- Click on the (W) icon of WordPress in the upper left corner of the browser window.
- Choose Add New Post.
- Enter a descriptive title. I’m using a format that starts with the (approximate) date, but you can use any format you fancy.
- Drag the photo onto the post, in the position where you want the photo to appear. The pic will be loaded and formatted to the appropriate width automatically.
- You can add a caption to the photo by clicking on the photo and then clicking on the […] icon. The caption is formatted automatically.
- If you have multiple photos that you want to publish in a same post, just drag them below the first one.
- Select the relevant Categories (add them if you need to). Categories are for years, periods or events.
- Select the tags, which identify specific people. You can click on existing tags to add them to a photo. To add a new tag, just click in an empty space of the Add New Tag box.
- Click on Set Featured Image and choose the photo that you just added, or the photo that you want to use to represent a photo set. The Featured Image is the one that will get displayed when you search for pics.
- Click Publish and then Publish again.
- The post with the new photo(s) is now online.
- Go to the Dashboard, select the post you just posted and click on Protect. The Password protection column of the Dashboard will now say “protected”.
Each post needs to be protected individually.
If you make a mistake and you want to edit a post:
- Click on the (W)
- Choose Posts
- Locate the post in the list
- Click Edit
- Edit the post, click Save.
